The main reason you’re here is because you are looking at natural, risk-free ways to improve your muscle gains and control your caloric and protein intake. Egg whites can give your body the proteins required to boost metabolism, increase lean muscle mass and recover after intense exercise regimens.

Of course, there are a lot of protein sources available on the market, and some of them are even denser than egg whites. But, pound for pound, egg white protein powder is probably the best choice available if you are searching for an all-natural selection that’s low in calories and fats.

There’s a Reason Why They Are Such a Recommended Choice

Egg whites are pretty much pure protein and are a fantastic source of essential amino acids. Moreover, they are cholesterol-free, they contain riboflavin, which has natural antioxidant properties, and they are low in calories, especially when compared to other protein sources such as chicken breast or other types of lean meats.

Now, are they magical? No, of course not. But they are a great way to supplement your protein intake without adding unnecessary calories to your diet and because they contain selenium, they also support the function of your immune system. Do you need egg white protein powder? Well, it depends.

If your goal is to encourage muscle growth and you need help hitting your daily protein target, egg whites can be a fantastic aid. That said, if you already eat enough high-quality proteins, from chicken meat, fish, beans or dairy, supplements such as egg-white powders are less efficient.

Ultimately, it will all revolve around your lifestyle and dietary preferences. Egg whites are a useful option if you are serious about your training, you are currently in a caloric deficit, and you struggle to get enough protein from your food. Personally, I think they helped me a ton, and I prefer them to conventional protein powders based on whey.

Why Do You Need Proteins for Muscle Growth?

It’s simply the way our bodies work. Muscle fibres are mostly composed of actin and myosin, which are organised in specific structures that we call myofibrils. When you exercise, these muscle fibres suffer micro tears that are later repaired via the utilisation of the amino acids synthesised from the proteins in your diet.

The kicker, however, is that these subsequent repairs make the muscles stronger and denser, which is a process we call hypertrophy. In other words, the more tears your muscle fibres suffer, the stronger and bulkier they get. No pain, no gain, right? It’s quite simple, actually. Muscle fibres are composed of around 80% protein, and in order to repair them after intense exercise, the body needs extra, ingested proteins in order to activate MPS.

Why Choose Egg White Protein Powder?

Convenience mostly. One egg white contains around 3.6g of protein, which accounts for around 2.4% of your required daily protein intake necessary to see muscle mass increases. Even in the best-case scenario, you will need to consume around 35 egg whites per day only to hit your daily protein target, which, let’s be real, is not exactly realistic.

One scoop of top-shelf egg white protein powder, on the other hand, will contain around 30g of protein, or eight to nine eggs. Add two scoops per day, in your drinks or food and you will hit around half of the protein intake necessary to see an activation of MPS.

Egg white powder can be added to pretty much anything, including water or smoothies; they don’t require any effort, as you don’t have to cook them, and they are consistent, as you will always know for sure how much protein you add to your diet. Of course, pure proteins alone are not enough for a healthy diet. But the versatility of egg white powder makes it a fantastic supplement to consider.

What Should You Add to Them?

One large egg white has around 18 calories and can, if you are lucky, contain around 4g of pure protein. That’s not too bad, but one scoop of egg white powder will have around 131 calories, and eight times the amount of protein you can expect from a single egg white. Plus, per 100g, egg white powder will also have 1116mg of Potassium, 89mg of Calcium, 1.1 mg of Magnesium, and 171mg of Phosphorus, among many other minerals and vitamins. So, it’s a better choice if complete nutrition is your main concern.

Egg whites in the form of protein powder are a fantastic, low-calorie way to supplement your daily protein intake. But you should combine them with lean meats, dairy in the form of yogurt, and other types of plant-based protein sources, such as lentils. In other words, you shouldn’t rely solely on supplements for muscle gain. The most important thing is to have a proper diet and utilise egg whites as a provider of the amino acids required for the continuation of your daily tasks.

Will It Make Me Look Better?

Well, not directly. Egg white protein powder is an efficient way to increase the nutrition necessary to support hypertrophy. But your muscles will not grow without exercise. Egg whites provide lean protein without extra fat and, therefore, are probably the best market-available choice for protein supplementation without too many calories. You will still have to work out, however, and the results will not be immediate. Like with most things, when it comes to body recomposition, proteins are only a small part of the puzzle.

Egg whites speed up muscle repair, boost metabolism due to the thermic effect of protein, and can make you feel fuller, which can be ideal if you are struggling with extra calories. They will not make your body leaner on their own. They don’t act as anabolic steroids. But they are necessary in order to see results from strength and resistance training, and are perhaps one of the most convenient ways to hit your protein targets without planning your life around nutritional quirks.

Let’s be honest for one second.
